For the last six weeks Family Connections – Newtownabbey, Parent Support workers Claire and Emma, have spent their Tuesday mornings delivering ‘Parentivity’ – a supportive parent group embracing Positivity, Creativity, Activity, Inclusivity and much more!
Each week the sessions focused on positively addressing a number of topics through undertaking a range of fun activities and highlighting useful strategies:
Week One – Building connections and The Power of Positivity.
Week Two – Anxiety, Stress and Concentration.
Week Three – Wellbeing and Relaxing.
Week Four – Physical movement and its importance to mental wellbeing.
Week Five – Creativity as a distraction.
Week Six – Being Thankful and Communicating with our children.
One parent who attended the sessions said of the programme; “Parentivity was interesting and enjoyable, Claire and Emma were very approachable, and friendly” while another said they found the sessions to be “really helpful, relaxing, and positive” and that they “enjoyed learning new things and meeting new people,” while a third just said “It’s been amazing!”
”Thank you’ to Abbey Presbyterian Church for hosting the sessions.
