Families from Rathcoole and Monkstown enjoyed two Family Fun Nights at the beginning of August both of which were planned, organised, and facilitated by our Parent Champions. The first took place at Newtownabbey Methodist Mission on the evening of Tuesday 9th August with the second taking place at Abbey Presbyterian Church, Monkstown on Thursday 11th August.
Both events were a fantastic example of what can be achieved through community collaboration. Through working in partnership with local organisations; Abbey SureStart, Listening Ear, Monkstown Boxing Club, and Newtownabbey Arts and Cultural Network (NACN), everyone who attended each evening had the opportunity to engage in a range of wellbeing, learning, and play activities with a particular focus being given to Special Educational Needs.
On both evenings there was also an opportunity to help shape the planning for the next phase of the #WE CAN campaign, through completing a short survey, the results of which are being included in the planning of upcoming THRiVE activities.
